Science Jeopardy!

Practicing Terminology

  1. Set up the classroom by arranging students into teams of four and ensuring that the projector and laptop are ready to display the jeopardy game board.
  2. Introduce the concept of forces and explain the terms that will be covered in the game, such as pull, push, force, speed, velocity, frictional force, mass, balanced force, unbalanced force, gravity force, and magnetic force.
  3. Explain the rules of the game to the students, emphasizing that they will be selecting categories and point values to answer questions related to the defined terms.
  4. Project the jeopardy game board on the screen and have a student from each team take turns selecting a category and point value.
  5. Read out the corresponding question for the selected category and point value, giving teams a chance to discuss and provide their answer within a specified time limit.
  6. Facilitate discussions after each question to ensure understanding among the students and reinforce their learning by explaining the correct answer and elaborating on the concept if necessary.
  7. Encourage active participation by all students, prompting them to ask questions and engage in discussions throughout the game to create a collaborative learning environment.
  8. Monitor students' responses and assess their understanding based on their engagement, contributions, and accuracy in answering the jeopardy questions.
  9. After completing the jeopardy game, transition to the hands-on experiment where students can explore push and pull concepts using toy cars, measuring the force required to move them, and further reinforce their understanding of forces in a practical way.
  10. Wrap up the lesson by summarizing key takeaways from the game and experiment, allowing students to reflect on what they've learned about forces and how they impact motion in our everyday lives.
